Vietri pottery, known for its vibrant colors and Mediterranean motifs, has a rich history deeply intertwined with the town of Vietri sul Mare on the Amalfi Coast. Vietri's ceramic tradition is believed to have roots in Etruscan and Roman times, with the area serving as a trading port for artisanal crafts.  During the 16th century the ceramic business experienced tremendous growth, with artisans producing various ceramic items like tiles, kitchenware, and decorative pieces.  Again, during the 20th century, Vietri experienced renewed revitalization of their ceramics, influenced by German artists who brought new techniques and styles.  There are many marks from different artists associated with Vietri ceramics, however, the style, colors, and motifs found in these unique ceramics are unmistakable, and highly coveted by Italian ceramic collectors.
