This rare Prambanan Snail is an interesting pick for any freshwater tank!

Prambanan Snails provide an attractive addition to any aquarium; wild-caught specimens may possess spikes, though young snails have less pronounced shells. Comparable to Malaysian Trumpet Snails, Prambanan Snails are favored among hobbyists. They love sandy substrate and a pH of 5+; below this, shells can disintegrate.

Prambanan Snails is named after the famous Prambanan temple in Indonesia.

Our Prambanan (Thiara Winteri) snails exceed 3/4 inch in length, making them larger than the average freshwater snail. Their presence in a tank is beneficial in promoting cleanliness, thanks to their efforts in eating algae, rotted plant parts, food tablets, flakes, and vegetables.

Renowned for their substrate-sifting, these molluscs make an ideal choice for clean tanks. When stocking a planted tank, account for their preference for sandy substrates and feeding on plants like Riccia.
